The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
