He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
