The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
