So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
