In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 and the severally severing 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 excusing or warning, 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 when heaven shall be split 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 and when the Messengers' time is set 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a humble fluid, 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 until an appointed time? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together. 25 for the living and the dead, 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 Depart unto the shadow three branched: 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. 36 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
