The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
