The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
