And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
