Man prays for evil in the manner he ought to pray for good. Man is ever hasty. 11 We have made the night and the day as two signs. We blotted out the sign of night and made the sign of the day illuminating, so that you may seek the bounty of your Lord and learn to compute the seasons and the years. We have set everything forth in detail. 12 And We have attached the destiny of every man to his neck; and We shall bring forth a register for him on the Day of Resurrection, which he will find open. 13 It will say, "Read your record, today there will be none but yourself to call you to account!" 14 Whosoever is guided, it is only for himself that he is guided and whosoever strayeth, it is only against the same that he strayeth; and a burthen-bearer beareth not the burthen of another. And We have not been tormentors until We had raised an apostle. 15 And when We intend that We shall destroy a town We command the affluent people thereof, then they transgress therein; wherefore the word is justified on them; then We annihilate it with utter annihilation. 16 We have destroyed many generations after the time of Noah. Your Lord is All knowing and Well Aware of the sins of His servants. 17 Whosoever desires this hasty world, We hasten for him therein what We will unto whomsoever We desire; then We appoint for him Gehenna wherein he shall roast, condemned and rejected. 18 The effort of one who faithfully strives hard for the (happiness) of the life to come will be appreciated (by God). 19 Each We succour, these and those, from thy Lord's gift; and thy Lord's gift is not confined. 20 Behold thou! how We have preferred some of them over some others; and surely: the Hereafter is greater in degrees and greater in preferment. 21 Do not associate with Allah any other god, lest you sit down despised, neglected. 22
