The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the House inhabited 4 The roof raised high, 5 and the sea that is full 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
