Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
