[Allah said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I, of what you do, am Knowing. 51 Your religion is one and I am your Lord. Have fear of Me". 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children, 55 We vie in good works for them? Nay, but they are not aware. 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 And those who believe in the revelations of their Lord, 58 who associate none with their Lord in His Divinity, 59 And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be returners. 60 It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 Nay, their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this; and their deeds too vary from the way (mentioned above). They will persist in these deeds 63 Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 in arrogance, as if you were abandoning a story-teller. 67 Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient? 68 Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him? 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Are you asking them for something? What Allah has given you is the best. He is the Best of providers. 72 And lo! thou summonest them indeed unto a straight path. 73 And lo! those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed astray from the path. 74 ۞ And though We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, still they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 Already have We grasped them with punishment, but they humble not themselves unto their Lord, nor do they pray, 76 Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein! 77
