And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
