The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the swollen sea, 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
