The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
