A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 (It is) a Scripture that is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) - so let there be no heaviness in thy heart therefrom - that thou mayst warn thereby, and (it is) a Reminder unto believers. 2 Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. 3 And how many a town that We destroyed, so Our punishment came to it by night or while they slept at midday. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 And on that Day, the weighing will truly be done; so those whose scales prove heavy are the successful. 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
