Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
