Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son 3 And that the foolish one among us used to speak concerning Allah an atrocious lie. 4 We thought that no man or jinn could ever tell lies about God. 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: 10 And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. 11 "'And withal, we have come to know that we can never elude God [while we live] on earth, and that we can never elude Him by escaping [from life]. 12 And when we heard the Message of guidance, we believed therein; and whosoever believeth in his Lord, he shall fear neither diminution nor wrong. 13 and that “among us some are Muslims (Those who have submitted to Allah), and some of us are deviant. So those who became Muslims found the Right Course; 14 but those who deviated from the Truth, will be the fuel for Hell.” 15 If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance 16 That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 Yet [thus it is] that whenever a servant of God stands up in prayer to Him, they [who are bent on denying the truth] would gladly overwhelm him with their crowds. 19
