Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
