۞ He it is who created you from a single soul, and He created therefrom his spouse that he might find repose in her. Then when he covereth her she beareth a light burthen and fareth about therewith; then when she groweth heavy the twain call upon Allah their Lord: if Thou vouchsafest us a goodly child, we shall surely be of the thankful. 189 yet when He grants them a healthy child, they begin to ascribe to others a share in the gift they have received. But God is far above what they associate with Him! 190 Do they associate (with Allah in His divinity) those who can create nothing; rather, they are themselves created? 191 The idols are things that are not able to help others or even themselves. 192 If you call them to guidance they will not follow you. It is all the same if you call them or hold your tongue. 193 Those whom you (pagans) worship besides God, are themselves servants just like yourselves. If your claim was true, they should answer your prayers. 194 Have they feet on which they can walk? Have they hands with which they can grasp? Have they eyes with which they can see? Have they ears with which they can hear? Say [O Muhammad]: 'Invoke all those to whom you ascribe a share in Allah's divinity, then scheme against me and grant me no respite. 195 “Indeed my Protector is Allah Who has sent down the Book; and He befriends the righteous.” 196 And those whom you call upon besides Him are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves. 197 And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking towards you, yet they do not see. 198 Cultivate tolerance, enjoin justice, and avoid the fools. 199 And if it happens that a prompting from Satan should stir you up, seek refuge with Allah. He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 200 Surely those who guard (against evil), when a visitation from the Shaitan afflicts them they become mindful, then lo! they see. 201 And their brethren drag them on toward error, so they stop not short. 202 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) when you do not bring to them a verse, they say, “Why did you not fabricate it?” Say, “I follow only what is divinely revealed to me from my Lord”; this (the Holy Qur’an) is an enlightenment from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for the Muslims. 203 When the Koran is recited, listen to it in silence in order that Allah has mercy upon you. 204 And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful. 205 [even] the ones [angels] who live in the presence of your Lord are not too proud to worship Him: they glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
