And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
