The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
