Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
