Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Alif, Lam, Meem. 1 These are the verses of the sagacious Book, 2 a guide and a mercy for those who do good, 3 Those who keep the prayer established and pay the charity and accept faith in the Hereafter. 4 They follow the guidance of their Lord and they will have everlasting happiness. 5 But among men there are some who spend their time in idle diversions only to lead people astray from the path of God, and without knowledge, hold it up to ridicule: for such there is a humiliating punishment in store. 6 And when Our signs are recited to such a man he turns away, waxing proud, as though he heard them not, and in his ears were heaviness; so give him good tidings of a painful chastisement. 7 But for those who believe and do good works are Gardens of Bliss, 8 Therein they will be abiders: a true promise of Allah. And He is the Mighty, the Wise. 9 He [it is who] has created the skies without any supports that you could see, and has placed firm mountains upon the earth, lest it sway with you, and has caused all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon. And We send down water from the skies, and thus We cause every noble kind [of life] to grow on earth. 10 This is the creation of Allah. So show Me what those other than Him have created. Rather, the wrongdoers are in clear error. 11
