The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
