۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said: "Certainly you and your fathers have all been in manifest error." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 They said: 'Then bring him here so that the people may see, so that they may bear witness' 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 But then they relapsed into their former way of thinking and said: "Thou knowest very well that these [idols] cannot speak!" 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
