۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 on couches facing each other. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
