The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
