The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
