The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
