Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
