The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or orders piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
