And to Thamood We sent their brother Salih. He said: 'Worship Allah, my nation, for you have no god except He. A clear proof has come to you from your Lord. Here is the shecamel of Allah, a sign for you. Leave her to graze in the earth of Allah and do not touch her with evil, lest a painful punishment seizes you. 73 And call to mind when He made you successors after 'Ad and gave you power in the earth so that you took for yourselves palaces in its plains and hewed out dwellings in the mountains. Remember, then, the wondrous bounties of Allah and do not go about creating mischief in the land.' 74 The leaders of those who were arrogant among his people said to those who were counted weak - to such of them as believed: "Know you that Salih (Saleh) is one sent from his Lord." They said: "We indeed believe in that with which he has been sent." 75 The proud oppressors said, "We reject that which you believe in". 76 So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers." 77 So the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone. 78 So Salih left them, saying: "O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message for which I was sent by my Lord: I gave you good counsel, but ye love not good counsellors!" 79 And We sent Lut, when he said unto his people: commit ye an indecency wherewith none hath preceded you in the worlds? 80 Verily, with lust you approach men instead of women: nay, but you are people given to excesses!" 81 And the only answer of his people was that they said, 'Expel them from your city; surely they are folk that keep themselves clean!' 82 Then We delivered Lot and his household save his wife who stayed behind, 83 And We rained a shower (of stones) upon them; therefore see what sort of fate befell the culprits! 84
