Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 These men do say, 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 save those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy: for, verily, He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 42
