The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 Upon the disbelievers the punishment that none can avert. 2 From Allah, Owner of the ascending steps. 3 The angels and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] ascend to Him in a Day the measure whereof is fifty thousand years, 4 Therefore, [O believers] behave with seemly patience. 5 Indeed, they see it [as] distant, 6 And We see it nigh. 7 On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper 8 and the mountains become like wool, 9 and no bosom friend will enquire about any of his bosom friends 10 although they shall be within sight of one another. The guilty one would fain ransom himself from the torment of that Day by offering his children, 11 His wife and his brother, 12 And his family who had stood by him, 13 And all those who are in the earth then only if the redemption saves him! 14 Never! That is indeed a blazing fire. 15 Dragging by the head, 16 calling him who drew back and turned away, 17 And hoarded (wealth) and withheld it. 18 ۞ Human beings are created greedy. 19 Fretful when evil touches him; 20 And when good toucheth him he is begrudging. 21 except those that pray 22 who are steadfast in prayer; 23 And those in whose wealth exists a recognised right, 24 For him who begs and for him who is denied (good) 25 who confirm the Day of Reckoning 26 And those who fear the torment of their Lord, 27 Surely no one can be secure from the punishment of his Lord, -- 28 And those who preserve their chastity 29 Are free of blame, 30 But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;- 31 And those who of their trusts and their covenant are keepers. 32 and perform their witnessings, 33 and are steadfast in their prayers. 34 Those shall be in gardens, honored. 35

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
