Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth - how it has been spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
