The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Successful indeed are the believers. 1 They who are during their prayer humbly submissive 2 and who turn away from all that is frivolous, 3 Who strive for betterment; 4 And who guard their private parts, 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 (but whosoever seeks after more than that, those are the transgressors) 7 (Prosperous are those) who preserve their trusts and pledges 8 to their promise, 9 These are the real gainers, 10 that will inherit the paradise; [and] therein shall they abide. 11 And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). 12 Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; 13 We then turned the drop of fluid into a clot of blood, then the clot into a small lump of flesh, then the lump into bones, then covered the bones with flesh; then developed it in a different mould; therefore Most Auspicious is Allah, the Best Creator. 14 And then you will certainly die, 15 Then lo! on the Day of Resurrection ye are raised (again). 16 And indeed We have created seven paths above you; and We are not unmindful of the creation. 17 We sent down water from the sky in right measure, and caused it to stay in the earth, and We have the power to cause it to vanish (in the manner We please). 18 And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat. 19 also a tree growing on Mount Sinai which produces oil and a condiment for those who eat it. 20 And in cattle (too) ye have an instructive example: from within their bodies We produce (milk) for you to drink; there are, in them, (besides), numerous (other) benefits for you; and of their (meat) ye eat; 21 and upon them, and on the ships, you are borne. 22
