The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ A. L. M. 1 Do people think they will not be tested because they say, "We have faith?" 2 And assuredly We have tempted those who were before them. So Allah will surely know those who are true and He will surely know the liars. 3 Or do they think - they who do evil deeds [while claiming to have attained to faith] - that they can escape Us? Bad, indeed, is their judgment! 4 He who hopes to meet God (should know) that God's appointed time will surely come. He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 5 And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds. 6 Those who believe and work righteous deeds,- from them shall We blot out all evil (that may be) in them, and We shall reward them according to the best of their deeds. 7 We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. But if they bid you to associate with Me that which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you will return, and I shall inform you of all that you have done. 8 Those who believe and do good works shall be admitted among the righteous. 9 Now there is among men many a one who says [of himself and of others like him,] "We do believe in God" - but whenever he is made to suffer in God's cause, he thinks that persecution at the hands of man is as [much to be feared, or even more than,] God's chastisement; whereas, if succour from thy Sustainer comes [to those who truly believe] he is sure to say: "Behold, we have always been with you!" Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? 10 God will surely know the believers and know the hypocrites. 11 And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Follow our path and we will bear your wrongs. And never shall they be the bearers of any of their wrongs; most surely they are liars. 12 They will bear their own burdens, and (other) burdens along with their own, and on the Day of Judgments they will be called to account for their falsehoods. 13
