The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
