The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
