The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
