Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
