And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 These people say, 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
