Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

May the hands of Abu Lahab perish! May he too perish! 1 His wealth did not benefit him in the least, nor did whatever he earned. 2 He will be plunged in flaming Fire, 3 and so too will his wife who (threw thorns and firewood in the Prophet's way). 4 shall have a rope of palmfiber around her neck! 5

True are the words of God the Almighty.
