The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And gardens and springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
