Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
