The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then he approached and descended 8 two bows' length away, or nearer, 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
