And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They said: we shall by no means cease to be assiduous to it until there returneth to us Musa. 91 Moses said to Aaron, "What prevented you, when you saw that they had gone astray, 92 That thou followedst me not? Hast thou then disobeyed my order? 93 'Son of my mother' he replied, 'Do not seize my beard nor my head. I was afraid that you might say: "You have divided the Children of Israel and did not uphold my word." 94 'You, Samaritan' said he (Moses), 'what was your business' 95 He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me." 96 'Begone! Your lot in this life is to cry: "untouchable!' said he (Moses). 'An appointment awaits you that you cannot fail to keep. Look at your god which you clung to indeed we will burn it and scatter its ashes upon the sea' 97 Your only deity is God, there is no deity but Him. His knowledge encompasses all things." 98 (O Muhammad), thus do We recount to you the events of the past, and We have bestowed upon you from Ourself an admonition. 99 Whoever turns aside from it, he shall surely bear a burden on the day of resurrection 100 they will abide in this [state,] and grievous for them will be the weight [of that burden] on the Day of Resurrection 101 The day when the Trumpet is blown. On that day we assemble the guilty white-eyed (with terror), 102 They shall whisper among themselves: "You stayed on the earth barely ten days." 103 We know very well what they will say, when the justest of them in the way will say, 'You have tarried only a day.' 104
