The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
