Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Blest be He in whose hand is the dominion, and He is over everything Potent. 1 He created death and life so that He might test you, and find out which of you is best in conduct. He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving One. 2 [Hallowed be] He who has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another: no fault will thou see in the creation of the Most Gracious. And turn thy vision [upon it] once more: canst thou see any flaw? 3 Look twice (and keep on looking), your eyes will only become dull and tired. 4 We have adorned the lower heaven with lamps, and We made them a stoning for the satans, We have prepared the punishment of the Blaze for them. 5 For those who believe not in their Lord there is the punishment of Hell; and what a wretched destination 6 When they will be cast into it, they will hear it roar as it boils, 7 It almost explodes in rage. Whenever a group is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did no one come to warn you?" 8 They will say, “Yes, why not – indeed a Herald of Warning did come to us – in response we denied and said ‘Allah has not sent down anything – you are not except in a great error’.” 9 And they will add: "Had we but listened [to those warnings,] or [at least] used our own reason, we would not [now] be among those who are destined for the blazing flame!" 10 So they confess their sins. Curse the inhabitants of the Blaze! 11 Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen (i.e. they do not see Him, nor His Punishment in the Hereafter, etc.), theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). 12 And keep your opinion secret or proclaim it, lo! He is Knower of all that is in the breasts (of men). 13 Shall not He who hath created know? And He is the Subtile, the Aware. 14
